Location. Standing at the gateway to beautiful Hatcher Pass, the Alaska Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast is located approximately 30 miles from Anchorage in Palmer, Alaska. The inn features outstanding views of the Knik Glacier, Pioneer Peak, two mountain ranges and the surrounding Mat-Su Valley. Hatcher Pass, just eight miles from the inn, showcases some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. Green mountains, lush with vegetation and wildlife give way to winding roads bordered by rushing rivers and boulders the size of small automobiles.

Hotel Features. The innkeepers provide a country-style breakfast featuring home-baked goods, fresh fruits, fluffy soufflés and local specialties like caribou sausage and sourdough pancakes. Coffee, tea and snacks are available in the dining room 24-hours-a-day. A library of Alaska-themed books and popular movies is available, and there are cards, games and a fireside piano in the Great Room. Many other services are available on request, including laundry services and custom dinners.

Guestrooms. Each of the guestrooms are individually decorated and furnished. Little extras like porcelain stoves, bay windows and jetted tubs are unique to each unit. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the inn.  Most rooms feature televisions with DVD/VCRs. There are wonderful views of the surrounding area from every room. Several rooms have in-suite kitchens.

Expert Tip. Matanuska Glacier, 62 miles from the bed and breakfast, is the largest glacier in Alaska that is accessible by road. Visitors can drive directly up to the glacier and walk on it. A guide service offers ice climbing and glacier trekking, or visitors can set out on their own to find hidden lakes in the mountain valleys filled by the glacier.
