Hotel Features. With a stately style inspired by James and Dolly Madison's Federalist era, the Madison hotel was opened in 1963 and has hosted U.S. presidents, entertainers and corporate travelers. Décor features chandeliers, marble floors and brocade rugs in rich blue and gold tones. Molded ceilings compliment dark wood antique furnishings and the large glass exterior of the quiet lobby adds ambient light. Guests dine on contemporary American fare at the hotel's Palette, which showcases American art and cuisine.
