Location. Oak Plantation Resort in Kissimmee, Fla., is nestled in a seclude hammock of oak trees just six miles from Walt Disney World. The nearest family attractions include Jungleland Zoo, a seven-acre zoo with a swan-filled lagoon, and Medieval Times, each just one mile from the resort. Within a few blocks are a variety of family and gourmet restaurants, in addition to boutiques, outlet malls, nightclubs, sundry shops and grocery stores.
Features. Oak Plantation Resort is a gated community with a collection of buildings stretching across 16 acres. Resembling a village of country houses, the resort offers 15 cottage- style buildings surrounded by winding stands of oak trees in a park-like setting. A picnic are with grills is provided, and recreational amenities include tennis and basketball courts, a fitness center, and a pool complex with two climate-controlled lagoon-style pools and a 12-person hot tub. Children have their own section of pool with sloped, beach-style entry for toddlers and showering water pipes.

Guestrooms. The furnished villas at Oak Plantation Resort feature traditional Florida-style decor in units with separate living and sleeping areas. Villas range from 459-square- feet for the smallest one-bedroom villa to 923-square- feet for the largest two-bedroom villa. All accommodations have kitchens with microwave ovens, stoves, coffeemakers, refrigerators (with icemakers), dishwashers, toasters, blenders and dinnerware. Washers and dryers are included. Some villas offer water views.

Expert Tip. Oak Plantation Resort offers planned activities for children such as arts and crafts and ice cream socials. There are also occasional movie nights by the pool (activities subject to change).
