 Until the 1940s, the Hotel Royal's building remained a private home until portions were transformed into a Laundromat. By the 1960s, massive infusions of capital turned the building into a hotel, and a redo in 2001 by renowned architect and interior designer Lee Ledbetter ushered the French Quarter hotel into the modern age with extra space and original artwork by local artist Edward Whiteman.
