Unless otherwise specified, all the ferries below run several times daily in midsummer (mid-June to mid-Sept). Most have fewer services from May to mid-June, and between mid-September and October. There is at least a skeleton service, though not on all routes, all year round. Round-trip passenger fares from Woods Hole and Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard are around $10; from Hyannis $27. Round-trip costs for cars (mid-May to mid-Sept) are $104 in the high season, not including passengers.

From Montauk , Long Island, to Oak Bluffs. Passengers only; summer Thursdays only; $40. Viking Ferry (tel 516/668-5700).

The Hy-Line ferry company in summer also runs a connecting service with three departures daily, for passengers only, between Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket (tel 508/693-0112). The journey takes about two hours, $27 round-trip.
