The coastal towns immediately north of Portland are no less commercialized than those to the south;
Freeport
, for example, is one long shopping mall, albeit a good one. However, soon after
Brunswick
I-95 veers inland toward Augusta, and US-1 is left to run on alone parallel to the ocean. Things become much less frenetic, and prices a whole lot lower; even on the main road you'll find pleasant communities such as
Bath
and
Belfast
, while the many headlands can be even more peaceful.
