Greyhound is at US-81 and Hwy-2; Amtrak at no. 5555 W Demers Ave. Internet access is available at the Public Library, 2110 Library Circle. Triangle Transportation (tel 218/773-2631) runs buses into Minnesota out of East Grand Forks from the Greyhound station.

Downtown's Best Western Town House , 710 First Ave N (tel 701/746-5411; $50-75), is Grand Forks' most luxurious motel ; for about $20 less you can stay in the kitsch splendor of the Fabulous Westward Ho on US-2 (tel 701/775-5341; $35-50), and swim in its cowboy-boot-shaped pool, while nearby there's a Super 8 , 1122 N 43rd St (tel 701/775-8138; $35-50). The most serene place to camp is 20 miles west on US-2, in the grounds of Turtle River State Park (reservations recommended; tel 701/594-4445; $11). The Red River Café , 315 Demers Ave (tel 701/772-3900), is good for lunch and also features reminders from the 1997 flood, including lines on the wall marking the height of the river at its crest.
