Location. Located in Midtown Manhattan, the 20-story Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel is positioned three blocks from Fifth Avenue shopping and Rockefeller Center. Grand Central Terminal, the Museum of Modern Art and the United Nations are within eight blocks of the hotel.
Hotel Features. Opened in 1961, this hotel was popular for its Midtown location and tropical look. Today, the hotel is decorated in an updated 1960s style with modern amenities. Retro-style furnishings in browns and reds mix with modern light fixtures and flat screen televisions. Warm chocolate chip cookies are served upon guests' arrival. The Met Grill, located in the lobby, serves American and continental fare, and the adjoining cocktail lounge, the Met Lounge, serves as a place to mingle amidst 1960s decor.
